John Cowan, and lojbab

1. John Cowan will be on vacation until after the 4th of July weekend. This m
means that he won;t be answering any mail directly to him. It also means that
unless you have an emergency, lojban-list admin traffic will not be being p
processed until then. If your request to lojban-list is importnat and cannot
wait until July 8, please mark it important. eric and I will get copies and t
try to solve whatevr problem you are having.

2. Since it has come up once or twice, I should tell people. As a widely
distributed highly technioocal project, muich of the commentary on Lojban
design is being handled by the net. I'm involved in justr about everything
in the project. I do not want to be this vital, but I'm stuck with the job.
However, because so much of our documentation is now in the form of computer
messages, I am making sure that I am not the critical path for all aspects
of the project. I've asked John Cowan to take a copy of all mail incoming to
me and review it, just in case something happens to me. This makes it all the
more certain that Lojban gets finished, and takes some of the pressure off me.

It also means that if you want to say something to me that is truly 'private',
or at least that you don;t want Cowan to see, you need to use snail mail, or
mark the header PRIVATE and rely on Cowan's dicretion to skip the message.
I doubt that this should cause much problem - John seems to have a plenty
thick skin, and is not offended by having criticism 'behind his back'.

John does not keep copies of my incoming mail - he just reads and deletes.
I do keep as complete an archive of my traffic as possible, again as a backup,
and also for historical purposes.
