Subject: Chinese mainland Lojbanist
I am enclosing a message from Liu Haitao, an interlinguist/computer science
type living on the Chinese mainland. He has minimal English skills, from
what I understand, and prefers to write in Esperanto, though presumably our
Chinese Lojbanists can write to him in Chinese as well.
Liu wrote to me via snail mail back in 1994, and I believe that Jorge did the
Esperanto translation for me, but I am sending this to both Mark and Jorge
so that someone surely can give me a translation. After that transla
tion,
i asked Ken Shan to correspond with him, so I including Ken al
so in this,
though I understand not much came of the first round of correspondence.
Perhaps now that he is on the Internet, things will be more effective.
I am including Lin Zhe Min and Lee Sau Dan because they have been helpin
g on
translating Lojban materials into Chinese, and I believe Lee i
f not both of
them knows some Esperanto as well.
>From what little I gather, he wants to know the ftp addresses to get the ref
grammar and perhaps other things. You can get the main address from my .sig
below, and look in the various directories to get specific file names.
Ask me if not sure on anything, but I would like to pass off supporting this
person to you guys collectively, and ask you to keep me informed. Getting
more Chinese Lojbanists would definitely be a good thing, and we need to be able to support mainland people indirectly since I doubt that they will be able to
practically buy books from us for a while.
