I wish to propose some alternate spellings, which fit my pronounciations of
some of these places. Most of these seem to deal with the pronounciation
of an "A." For example, Atlanta I feel is pronounced more like "etlentys"
than "atlantas", even though the latter LOOKS right. I think the "e as in
met" more closely matches the desired pronounciation than does the "a as in
casa."
I am speaking as one from Georgia, so I realize my pronounciations of all
words may not represent the country as a whole. I think a lot of these are
probably better responded to by residents of the specific areas, although I
think both Phillip's and my pronounciations are reasonable.
