I think that such a lujvo is useful, but it would not be as versatile
as {po'o}. Using a lujvo places a lot more constraints on word order.

That, minus {kau}, is how I would say it.

Yes, but you can also use kau with ka, with kau's meaning of course,
(and I use ke'a with ka, rather than the new thingy). For example:
la djan zmadu la meris le ka ke'a nanca makau
John exceeds Mary in how old they are.
la djan pavgri le ka ke'a nanca makau
John is the only one in how old he is.
(John is the only one of his age.)
