Well 31 October has come and gone, and it is a good thing that we extended the
deadline till 30 November because 35 spoken-for books have no yet been
formally ordered/paid for (10 of these are from Italy and Sweden, where
people are working out collective purchase arrangements, so I know what
is going on there. The remainder are still up in the air.)
The count is 111 books paid for, 146 spoken for. We are around 1/3 of
the way to the break-even point, probably a little less after all the
shipping cost are taken care of.
Not bad given the negligible advertising that has taken place, but a long
way to go before we can finance the next Lojban book.
For those interested 15 of the 111 so far paid for are outide the USA
(25 of 121 counting the two bulk orders I mentioned above), and 35 of
the orders (or around 1/3) have used credit cards, making the decision
to get the credit card payment method setup quite justified.
I would gues that 1/4 to 1/3 of all orders have been from people not on
Lojban List, which shows that our Web site coupled with word-of-mouth
is already starting to get us ebook orders.
